Lightning Bolt’s Brian Chippendale began Black Pus back in 2006, and what started as a wildly noisy, free jazz freakout project has refined it’s methods over the years. For the new Black Pus release All My Relations, out now on Thrill Jockey, Chippendale has exchanged the saxophone for a drum-mounted oscillator capable of bellowing blasts of bass thru various effects pedals. While a track like “Hear No Evil” retains the clangor of earlier Black Pus, some room has been cleared out in the tones and arrangements allowing the track to slowly build in waves of intensity before reaching manic, tranced-out levels of sonic oblivion! The new video for “Hear No Evil” was directed by Light Hits, aka Kelie Bowman and Jessie Rose Vala, and it displays an effects heavy array of strange imagery composited into a solarized tie-dye for your electrifried eyes!
