Soft Metals have a new video for “No Turning Back“, off their 2013 LP Lenses, out now on Captured Tracks. Directed by Nicolette Mishkan, the video stars the Soft Metals duo Patricia Hall and Ian Hicks in a beautifully shot and stylized erotic dream, but what the video does so well, is ultimately it’s downfall, as it offers little more than optical elegance and a “faux” transgression of boundaries. Visually appealing and accomplished to be sure, but unfortunately Mishkan hasn’t included enough emotional substance here, to make her video feel like more than an exercise in mediocre suburban erotics and lip-glossed style. Soft Metals will play a few west coast dates this month, including April 9th in Seattle at Barboza, before heading off for a European tour. Check the dates out below…
