Oozing Wound‘s killer LP Earth Suck came out last fall on Thrill Jockey, and this week the Chicago metal trio delivered a new video for their track “Hippie Speedball“. Directed by the photographer and filmmaker Joe Martinez Jr., the black and white video features singer/guitarist Zack Weil, drummer Kyle Reynolds, and bassist Kevin Cribbin, in all their revolving and hard rocking glory! The simple premise, here, is well executed…put the guys on a rotating stage, light it, and let the dudes loose to do their thing. The result–pure hesher gold in all it’s headbanging glory.
Sonically, “Hippie Speedball” is a dirgey, doom damaged trip on the downward spiral. Various time changes ensue, speeding and slowing like a stoned and over-caffeinated heart, but most of all, it’s the kind of track you just can’t help turning up to ear bleeding levels.
