Watch: Sam Prekop “A Geometric”

Sam Prekop hooks up with fellow Chicagoan, video synthesizer designer and artist Nick Ciontea, on these nifty new visuals for “A Geometric“, off Prekop’s LP The Republic (Thrill Jockey). Seems like a natural pairing, as Prekop’s solo work has featured his interest in analogue synthesizers, while Ciontea’s BrownShoesOnly design analogue-based video synthesizer modules that have been featured at the Austin Psych Fest, as well as by musicians and bands like Alessandro Cortini, CAVE, Moon Duo, and Disappears. Here, rolling screens of prismatic light and kaleidoscopic geometry seem to take on glowing volumetrics, as Ciontea’s neon patterns leave a deep retinal after burn–perfect for hypnagogic trip out.
