Eat up, “Cannibal Babies“, Geneva Jacuzzi has a new record due out in 2016, and if this track and video are any indication, it’s gonna be a real doozie! Technophelia is set to come out February 5th on Seattle’s Medical Records, and the upcoming album finds her working with acclaimed indie producer Chris Coady (TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Gang Gang Dance). Notions of the “cannibal” have shown up before in Geneva’s work, often as an extended Freudian metaphor for the more “violent” aspects of asserting self-identity, but here she turns “Eat me up/Eat me out” into a delicious rallying cry for a ravenous new brand of sexual politic. And while such content might easily be re-appropriated as male sexual fantasy (commodity), she uses her darkly humored and nuanced approach in presenting this vampish sexual persona to frustrate any easy attempts. Or maybe you like to have your cake, and eat it too!
