Watch patten’s Video “Dialler”:

London-based electronic duo patten is getting set to release their Ψ LP on September 16th via Warp, and in anticipation of the new record they have this video for their track “Dialler“. The visuals are directed by Jane Eastlight, as part of the 555-5555 collective. A long-time visual collaborator with patten, Eastlight and the producer have now, also, joined musical forces. He explains:

“We’re working with a number of artists on the visuals around this new LP. The whole thing is Art Directed by our creative group 555-5555 that we work on with Jane Eastlight…With the video for “Dialler”, we’ve worked closely with Jane who has been a steady collaborator with us since back in the day. We wanted to get across something around the way the things we all see or feel out there are wildly shifting, reconfiguring and fragmenting all the time, ourselves included. Memories fuse with dreams, and they connect to jpegs, to words, sounds, new thoughts… It’s crazy how we all experience things and we hope to touch on all of that in our music and visual work”.

The video for “Dialler” uses coded, 3-D animation to depict this constant evolution/devolution of form. Stark, neon red imagery coalesces from shifting fragments into temporary formations that include everyday objects like a tire, drink cup or surveillance camera. This surreal collection even includes busts of Eastlight and patten alongside things like a keyboard or porcelain dog.
