Benjamin John Power‘s (Fuck Buttons) solo project Blanck Mass returns this year on March 3rd with his World Eater (Sacred Bones) LP. Discussing the album title, Power explains that “it is a reference to both the inner beast inside human beings that when grouped en masse stops us from moving forward towards good”. Continuing, the musician says:

“Being surrounded by so much hate in the world right now throws a whole new light on the importance of love. I have never set out to make a protest record. I’ve never set out to make any kind of record really, but during the creative process for this and any of my past releases, I start to form a bond with the project as we grow together.”

Today we take a listen to “Please“, the first single off the upcoming record. Repeating notes drop like mercury into fields of floating ambiance to begin the track, before percussive elements crackle like fireworks in the night air. Meanwhile, Power orchestrates various vocal elements into an operatic cacophony of male and female voices that narrate this cut with tense drama.
