Melvins released their 2xLP A Walk With Love & Death this month via Ipecac Recordings. The double album features Death, a proper Melvins’ release, and Love, the score to Jesse Nieminen‘s short film, A Walk With Love & Death. The band is currently on a massive North American tour and returned to the Pacific Northwest last night to play a SOLD OUT show at the Showbox in Seattle with Eagles of Death Metal. Melvins’ current touring line-up is the same as on the band’s new 2xLP and it finds guitarist Buzz Osborne and drummer Dale Crover joined by bassist Steve McDonald.

Last night at the Showbox, Melvins’ were playing in support, rather than headlining, but it was clear their Seattle fans were out in force. The trio’s hour long set did not disappoint maxing out on the heaviness this band has become legendary for. King Buzzo stalked the stage like an angry hornet in a black cape while his razor sharp guitar playing and wicked licks demonstrated why this band is still vital thirty-plus years into their career. He and Crover have written the book on what it takes to be a truly independent band, and their longevity is a testament to their idiosyncratic vision and dedication to craft. Not to mention, still some of the heaviest shit around. Here’s to thirty more years!

Don’t miss the photos below from the Melvins’ show last night at the Showbox in Seattle captured by local photographer Mike Walker. In addition, you’ll find a full list of the band’s 2017 tour dates.
