UK-based producer Lee Gamble joined Hyperdub Records this year, and his first LP release for the label, Mnestic Pressure is out now. In a press release for the record from earlier this year, Gamble explained:

“From Diversions 1994-1996 through to Koch – my music felt like I was dealing with signals from elsewhere – signals from the unconscious, sub-aqua, hallucinated, dreamt. Mnestic Pressure feels like their decoded offspring, a terra interpretation.”

The title for the 13-track effort refers to Gamble’s thoughts about the individual and collective pressures on memory under our current conditions, and, as such, it reflects back a hypermediated world in gleaming, technicolor bursts of sound and rhythm. Sonically, “Quadripoints” presents an endlessly propagating world of chirps and bleeps that seem to arpeggiate by some kind of self-will. Bit-crushed rhythms and bass bubble just beneath the surface while these glittering tones skip and gallop with artificial intelligence. The video for the track was created by the London-based designer and animator Dave Gaskarth. Wide open vistas are accompanied by swirling particle formations. Panning in drone-like sweeps, the camera spins in various directions as these rock-like forms swarm thru the dizzying space.
