If entering a new dimensions thru a painting on the wall sounds like an interesting afternoon adventure, you should definitely checkout Northern California space girl Salami Rose Joe Louis. The composer/producer is currently readying her Zdenka 2080 LP for release by Flying Lotus’ imprint Brainfeeder Records.
Hailing from Crockett, the musician (real name Lindsay Olsen) has this to say about her place of residence:
“It’s a tiny, very strange and sleepy little town. There is a giant sugar factory and the whole town often smells like marshmallows and caramel, which is ideal.”
Living in the basement of her friend’s house, she goes on to explain that it is the perfect place “to get very weird.” Following the release of her 2017 LP Zlaty Sauce Nephew, the artist sustained a wrist injury during a car accident. While being forced to take time off from work, she also happened to license a track for a TV commercial prompting her to pursue music full time.
Olsen’s upcoming effort is a conceptual album based around the mismanagement of the earth by corrupt governments and greedy corporations seeking to power a spacecraft using solar energy. The scenario finds the elites of society moving off-planet as the earth’s sun light is stolen in pursuit of a new home. Chronicling the exploits of an earthling left behind, Zdenka 2080’s female protagonist discovers an “octagonal room” with eight paintings on the wall. Leading to other dimensions, she soon learns she’s entered the Earth’s brain where the artist Zdenka guides its’ thoughts. Charged with changing the direction of the earth’s decline, she seeks out the artist in an attempt to convince her to paint more positive imagery.
