From the cradle to the Grave…Babies that is! Seattle’s goth-pop trio Grave Babies released a warped slab of translucent red vinyl this week, Crusher, out now on Hardly Art. The band is led by Danny Wahlfeldt on guitar and vocals, and with Keith Whiteman on drums and Tyler Robinson on synth, the trio carve dark wave, industrial, and gothic influences from reverberating slabs of distortion.

Over and Under Ground” blares out of the gate on bouncy, wall-of-sound guitars, as wet grey beats rain down around Wahlfeldt’s strangely chorused vocals. Everything about production on the track is maxed to the point of frying, as Wahlfeldt’s voice seemingly towers from the muffled clouds of audio fuzz. The track “No Fear” follows a more 80’s synth pop mood saturating it in garish neon, while Wahlfeldt’s vocals show signs of an exuberant melancholy.

While you’re at it, check out Emily Denton‘s recently released video for the track “Skulls,” where a young man might want to do something about his nails before worrying about those odd facial growths!

Oh yeah, a few up-coming Seattle dates for the Grave Babies, below.
