Shabazz Palaces team up with Sub Pop labelmate Chad VanGaalen on their new video for “Forerunner Foray“, off the duo’s excellent 2014 LP Lese Majesty. VanGaalen, a prolific illustrator and animator, as well as musician, provides his surreal brand of psychedelic visuals to the track, animating a space age trip to Neptune and back in the blink of the third eye of Osiris. The artist’s singular illustrative abilities have always been demonstrated by his intricate, expressive lines and multivaried forms; and thru animation, VanGaalen’s hyperactive imagination is allowed to morph this endless array of strange figuration with protean ease. Here, these talents are on full display–at times abstract and eye-melting, and at others, showing off an increasing ability to tell a visual story from this idiosyncratic style.
