Watch: Naomi Punk “Firehose Face”

931

Olympia’s Naomi Punk have a new LP, Television Man, out now on Captured Tracks, and today we take a look at the band’s video for the album’s first cut, “Firehose Face“. Produced by Chapin Long, this gender-bender of a video stars Chris McDonnell, and using a black and white, filmic look, it seems to pay homage to the surreal films of Dalí and Buñuel, or Man Ray. Dream-like situations and objects prevail…repeated scenarios of creepy hands opening, McDonnell’s lip stick applying mirror sessions, a broken down table with weird, random objects–not to mention a faceless someone in blond wig and fur coat crawling around in the midst of some sort of identity crisis–all making for a very bizarre and off-kilter viewing experience! And that’s just the kind we like!! Naomi Punk have some upcoming live shows, including an August date in Seattle with the re-united Blood Brothers, so check the list after the video embed!
