With all the responsibilities of living in a post-modern world, if you really think about it, it’s a waste sitting around watching videos. Yo La Tengo get’s that, and so with today’s new video for “I’ll Be Around” they’ve kindly included recipes for making Spicy Tortilla Soup, as well as the most delicious Tortilla de Espaņa. The video is directed by the band’s longtime video collaborator and Junebug auteur Phil Morisson, and it’s use of text, Yo La Tengo lyrics presented as prose, as well as the above mentioned recipes, subtly layers intriguing flavors into a video which features Superchunk’s Mac McCaughan playing and singing the song, Yo La Tengo cooking at home, and…a band member’s arrest. We sure hope James McNew makes it home in time for his afternoon siesta, or at least in time to play bass on Yo La Tengo’s next album!
