Sigur Rós have released a new video today for “Brennisteinn“, the first single off their up-coming LP Kveikur, due out June 18th via their new label home, XL Recordings. The video is directed by LA artist, animator, and filmmaker Andrew Thomas Huang, whose exquisite eye for costuming and set design was also evident in his “Mutual Core” video for Bjork, as well as his film Solipsist, which won Best Experimental Short Film at the Slamdance. Running over seven minutes,”Brennistein” delivers a powerful sonic jolt that courses with a dark, organic energy, as well as the band’s soaring soundscapes, and Huang meets it with the kind of mythic and alien imagery that would make Matthew Barney proud! The band plays Jimmy Fallon tonight, and heads out with an 11-piece band for a massive world tour. Check the dates below.
