New Video: King Krule “A Lizard State”

It’s becoming pretty obvious that the sky’s the limit for the spectacular talent that is King Krule! The young UK musician, whose given name is Archy Marshall, has triple threat abilities displaying easy, self-assured style that belies his age, dynamic musicianship with a killer, soulful voice, as well as nuanced song-craft that includes an innovative approach to lyric writing. His debut LP 6 Feet Beneath the Moon (True Panther Sounds, XL Recordings) came out in August of 2013 on his nineteenth birthday, and it’s really one of the finest debuts in recent memory. And yet, I think it’s fair to say that here in the States, King Krule, except for an excellent appearance on David Letterman, still flies mostly under the radar. I doubt that lasts, though, as it doesn’t take long in listening to tracks off 6 Feet Beneath the Moon before you realize you’re in the presence of that rare kind of singular talent!
Today, the artist offered up a new video for the song “A Lizard State“, directed by Jamie-James Medina, and, as it’s opening sequence will demonstrate, it owes a debt to Alfred Hitchcocks’ playful camera techniques, as well as Dial M For Murder, while featuring a cameo of sorts from the famed auteur (with rare permission from his estate!), as well as the title’s creeping reptile! King Krule returns to the US next month, so don’t miss the dates below.
