New Music: Brother JT ‘The Svelteness of Boogietude’ LP

1248

Spend your weekend Trippin’ Balls with Brother JT. His hair is wavy but dont call him gravy…Dudes got a lot of irons in the fire currently, so where to begin, here? Let’s flashback to the early 90’s where our Brother JT story really begins. Having made some odd recordings that didn’t quite fit the work he was doing with his band the Original Sins, John Terlesky laid the recordings on the music journalist Byron Coley who immediately dubbed him Bother JT, insisting the material needed to be released. Coley hooked the Brother up with Wayne Rogers and Kate Biggar of the Twisted Village label, and the “monolithic feedback piece” was released as Descent. Since that time Brother JT has worked solo and in band settings to explore his crazed brand of fried psychedelics and weirdo balladry on records like Rainy Day Fun (Drunken Fish), Music For the Other Head (Siltbreeze), and Spirituals (Drag City). His next installment of deadly fun nightshade is The Svelteness of Boogietude, which will be coming out May 14th on Thrill Jockey, but is currently available for pre-order. Below you can getta load of the tracks “Brother JT” and “Celebrate Your Face“, but I would be seriously remiss if I didn’t tell you to first watch Brother JT’s newest episode of Trippin’ Balls, with fellow space cowboy Twig Harper. Slide down the wormhole of JT’s permanently dosed mind as he and Harper discuss homemade time machines, alien abductions (non-drug induced), hypnagogic work- outs, inter-dimensional beings, and other psychonautic pursuits.
