Smelly Tongues unleash some seriously ripe sonic mayhem on their debut LP Slack Heep, out now on Urinal Cake Records. The LA-based band features members from The Intelligence, Red Aunts, White Savage, Piranhas, Static Static, and more, which should be enough to tell you we’re dealing with a serious punk rock gold mine here! If you don’t believe me, and really, why should you, why don’t you lay some Tongue on your ears with this killer cut “Secretly Strange“. The track comes right thru the door lookin’ for a fight with razor sharp sonics cranked to 11, as a lurching, syncopated beat circles around shards of angular guitar. An already frantic pace careens towards chaotic when the male side of the vocals enter, crazed, muffled, and clearly unhinged, and while Tia Fletcher and Lesley “Destroyer” Ishino‘s vocals bring some order to the madness, they also seem to brazenly taunt while pogoing along the tightly wound bass line.
