The Syracuse, New York punk band Perfect Pussy is getting ready to release their debut LP Say Yes To Love on March 18th via Captured Tracks, and in anticipation of the full-length the band released the single “Driver” this week. Former Shoppers singer Meredith Graves initially put Perfect Pussy together on a lark when director Scott Coffey asked her to be in his indie movie Adult World, starring John Cusack and Emma Roberts. Coffey happened to be a big music fan, and thru an internet search had heard of Graves’ band Shoppers, so he called the singer out of the blue one day to ask her if she might put a group together for his upcoming movie. Seizing the opportunity, she contacted her friends drummer Garrett Koloski, and bassist Greg Ambler, and together they wrote and played as an impromptu band. Having enjoyed the experience so much, the trio soon found themselves getting together casually to play music, and before long they added members Ray McAndrew on guitar, and Shaun Sutkus on synths. Perfect Pussy released their four-song demo EP I Have Lost All Desire For Feeling last April, and they have gained consistent exposure ever since. On the track “Driver”, the band uses the right and left channels to run differing sonic textures against themselves, before melting them together into a warped and off-kilter din, while Graves blows her top in strident diatribe! Over the next several months Perfect Pussy will play a host of live dates around the US, so don’t miss the list below.
