Shabazz Palaces will return on July 29th with a new 7-suite, 18-track LP offering, Lese Majesty, due out via Sub Pop, but today we get our “#CAKE”, and eat it too! A bit more byzantine than the album’s first single, “They Come In Gold“, on #CAKE”, Palaceer Lazaro and “Baba” Maraire continue to push their bass-ed out minimalism into far out territories. Using a peripatetic strategy that embraces wandering, but rooted around the pairs’ deeply burnished bass sounds and sparse, razor sharp beats, this track, which also features THEESatisfactions’ Catherine Harris-White, meanders with playful agility, while still finding Lazaro and Maraire to be “purveyors of the tight song”! Shabazz Palaces will play a handful live dates this summer, in support of their new LP, and you can find those dates after the video embed.
