OOFJ will release their sophomore LP Acute Feast April 21st via Ring the Alarm/Fake Diamond, and today we have another preview of the album with this new track, “I Forgive You“. The follow-up to the duo’s stellar cut “You’re Always Good“, which we checked out this past November, “I Forgive You” continues the emotional thread with another chapter in OOFJ’s saga of emotional dependence and obsession. Soaring strings are again provided by the Concert Master of the Royal Danish Opera House on this Goldfrapp-esque number, which finds singer Katherine Mills Rymer cooing gorgeous, numbed vocals over elegantly muscular bass and drums. The duo describes the song as a “…restrained underwater heartbreak”, and while Rhymer sings “I forgive you/Like I’m supposed to”, in honeyed tones, you never believe her for a second! It sure would seem, revenge can’t be far behind…
