Watch: clipping. “Intro”

Clipping.‘s 2014 self-titled Sub Pop debut was one of our favorite albums of last year, and it also produced it’s fair share of excellent videos, with tracks like “Work Work“, as well as “Body & Blood“, serving as standouts. Unless I’ve been sleeping, I believe these visuals for “Intro” are the first from the band in the new year. Directed by Sebastian Kleihs, the choice to tightly focus on rapper Daveed Diggs‘ mouth, first with the iris of the camera shut down such that the only light comes off his glowing teeth, before opening the camera back up to reveal the same image in grainy, low-light color, is a good one–as “Intro” is a particularly potent example of his poetic gifts. Diggs surreal street style cuts like glass here, so why not focus on his electric gift for verbal acrobatics!
