Rhode Island-based noise rockers Daughters have announced they will release their upcoming LP You Won’t Get What You Want on October 26th via Ipecac Recordings. The announcement came with the album’s second single, “The Reason They Hate Me.” Discussing the new track, singer Alexis Marshall offers:
“We find ourselves at another reveal. With “The Reason They Hate Me” we break from the narrative for a meditation on opinions and their assertion. For those insisting their critique is art: they’ve got a name for people like you.”
On the cut, guitarist Nick Sadler deals out a serrating whirlwind of guitar over bassist Sam Walker and drummer Jon Syverson‘s explosive low end. Meanwhile, vocalist Alexis Marshall waits like a coiled serpent ready to strike, and when given his chance he unleashes a payload of bitter acrimony. If you want to tell Daughters how to do their job, you better be ready to back up your opinion with an equal amount of venom and noise or this band’s liable to leave you slobbering in the dust.
