Label News: Fiesel & Hertz Release ‘The Lighthouse’ LP Via Aural Films

The electronic artists Christian Fiesel and Jack Hertz have teamed up again this year on the ambient release The Lighthouse out this month on Aural Films. This past February the pair collaborated on the project m00m with a self-titled release dedicated to their love for Moog synthesizers and Krautrock. While that effort found the duo on a synth-powered trip to the outer reaches of the Laniakea Supercluster, The Lighthouse explores “beaches, mountains, ports and faraway places between land and sea.” Filled with a peripatetic ambience perfect for closed-eye journeys to deep inner realms, the album floats on wide open seas of aquatic consciousness. Comprised of ten long form tracks of deep drift, Fiesel and Hertz explain that The Lighthouse was designed to be played in a random, shuffled order to create a continuous stream of changing landscapes.

Christian Fiesel is a German-based musician with a host of releases on net-labels like Petroglyph Music, Webbed Hand Records, and Spheredelic–as well as Hertz’s own Aural Films. While his output often moves between electronic genres, Fiesel’s music is united by the desire to create atmospheres of sound that encourage inner travels to unexpected places of mind and spirit. For his part, Hertz is a West Coast-based musician who runs Acousmatique Recordings, as well as the real and imaginary “soundtrack” label Aural Films. With a prolific discography of over fifty records, since 2010 the experimental musician has released albums via labels like We Are All Ghosts, Treetrunk Records, Buddhist On Fire, as well as on his own imprints.
