Last year Fucked Up dipped their toes into the acid bath on their Merge Records 2xLP release Dose Your Dreams. While I’m not sure LSD is currently the drug of choice in the hardcore scene, “Dose Your Dreams” is also not your typical Fucked Up punk. Instead, this cut disguises its urge to rage inside a disco-tinted fever dream that’s heavy on the funk and lighter on the sonic rage.
The band’s Mike Haliechuk returns to do the directorial honors on these new visuals for the track. The guitarist turned in two excellent videos last year for the tracks “Accelerate” and “Normal People,” with “Accelerate” making it onto our list of Favorite Videos for 2018. Similarly, “Dose Your Dreams” features a series of surreal visual anecdotes combined with live footage of the band–as well as some visually tweaked effects for triggering a complimentary acid flashback or two.
