Jamie xx has a new single entitled “Idontknow,” and it will be available as a 12″ on May 15th via Young Turks. The track has been kicking around since late 2019 and was included on Caribou’s BBC Essential Mix as well as being played by Ben UFO on The Lot Radio. Exuding infectious upbeat energy, the cut is an invitation to let loose and dance–even in these uncertain times. Intensely rhythmic and often grounded in wobbling blasts of deep bass, the UK-based producer uses these fundamental elements to tell detailed sonic stories woven from percussion, low-end, and tweaked vocal samples.
Young Turks remind us that Jamie xx’s upcoming 12″ will be available through many local independent record stores. The label is part of The Beggars Group which also includes 4AD, Matador, Rough Trade, and XL Recordings.
