Karate, Guns & Tanning ‘Concrete Beach’ Visual Album Premiere

Karate, Guns & Tanning will host an interactive Concrete Beach visual album premiere this Thursday night starting at 9 pm EST. Due out the day after on March 26th, the Midwest-based project’s debut LP is accompanied by a visual album with nine videos directed by motion designer Andrew Knives. This Thursday night, the band will live stream the event while premiering three new videos from the album. Hosted on KG&T’s YouTube and Twitch channels, the interactive session will include a live chat with the group, as well as a limited edition vinyl giveaway.

The project consists of keyboardist/synth-player Paige Shedletsky, bassist/vocalist Valerie Green, guitarist Joy Caroline Mills, and drummer Daniel Guajardo. Together, they combine psychedelic-infused shoegaze, grungy post-punk, and new wave-driven synth-pop into intensely engaging and noise-driven music. They report that Concrete Beach was written remotely during the pandemic and recorded and produced by the band.

Andrew Knives’ eye-searing animations are on full display in this video for the Karate, Guns & Tanning track “Breaking Teeth.”
