Today we catch up with the UK producer Nick Cooke, aka Cuttooth, whose new self-titled LP on Holland’s 4 Lux is an excellent late night burner. Cooke’s style combines laid-back instrumental hip-hop with a dreamy sonic sensibility, making great use of texture and space to create something akin to a “full body” listen. Cuttooth hooks up with Kiki Hitomi of King Midas Sound for this very cool track “Old Tape Machine“, off the new record, and it really highlights what this young artist does so well, as his noir palette of beats and lull-a-by electronics provide a lush, slightly disheveled bed for Hitomi’s gorgeous vocals! Cuttooth is currently working on an EP with the vocalist Eliza Shaddad, as well as an EP of hip-hop instrumentals, so you’ll definitely want to check out his Soundcloud page to stay up to date!
