Today Dan Deacon released an interesting new interactive video with downloadable app for his track “Konono Ripoff N°1“. Created by Meredith Moore and Alan Resnick, the video uses animated GIFs, and features Deacon’s friends from the Baltimore art community posing with objects they find representational. Several viewing options here, but the Wham City Lights‘ app provides the fully intended interactive experience, allowing you the ability to synch the rotation of your phone with the objects in the video. Konono Ripoff N°1 (Domino Records) was a limited edition Record Store Day 7″ named for the DIY Congolese band Konono Nº1. To capture that band’s poly-rhythms, Deacon employs two different drummers, and has recorded two version of the track as well, for a total of four different drummers. The A-side features Kevin O’Meara and former Ponytail drummer Jeremy Hyman, with Dave Jacober and former Double Dagger drummer Denny Bowen on the B-side…Below you can check out the video, and stream the A-side version of “Konono Ripoff N°1”, as well as viewing up-coming Dan Deacon tour dates— including some with Animal Collective.
