Rrose Last Comes First at Marsèll Paradise

Rrose is readying a multi-media installation entitled Last Comes First to be on view at Marsèll Paradise beginning Friday, September 24th and running through October 3rd. Marsèll is a Milan-based, strictly handmade footwear company known for its collaboration with groundbreaking artists and its multi-disciplinary approach. For her part, Rrose is the alter-ego of electronic producer, artist, professor, and performer Seth Horvitz. The exhibition will feature six endless video loops, macro studies in light and texture. Rrose offers:

“I am less of a maker and more of an observer. I usually stumble upon the most inspiring sounds and images by simply waiting patiently for them to appear rather than actively seeking them out.”

As an electronic producer, that often means setting up “simple, interconnected systems of modulation and feedback.” Recording the process as an observer, similarly, the video loops for Last Comes First are less the work of seeking out a particular image than setting up the camera and quietly observing the results. Rrose explains:

“I may set out on a journey deep into the forest in order to capture images only to find that the most inspiring image was captured at the end of the day while washing the dishes in my kitchen.”
