Ken Camden is a Chicago guitarist who plays with the quartet Implodes, as well as recording under his own name. Kranky will release his newest offering of celestial ambience, Space Mirror, on July 29th. While it’s true that Eta Carinae is a star system in the Carina constellation thousands of light years from the sun, Camden’s “Eta Carinae” finds that it contains sentient life! Utilizing processed and looped guitars, Camden’s deep space textures throb and pulse with life, making outer space seem like a warm bath of light on which to lay back and bliss out. Wow, turns out space is not a vacuum after all, but instead a seemingly limitless sea of incomprehensible life…Sounds more fun that way, anyways!
