New Track: Silent Lions “ripe•people”

1836

The emerging Toledo duo Silent Lions return this week with a very intriguing new follow-up to last year’s EP The Parliaments. Clocking in at over eight minutes, the “ripe•people” single, released on the band’s Nah Collective label, finds Dean Tartaglia and Matt Klein packing this monster track with more ideas than some bands can find for an entire album! “ripe•people” is built around the outstanding interplay between Tartaglia’s bass and Klein’s drums, as well as their riveting vocal delivery, and over the course of the track the band effortlessly changes directions, styles, and pace to craft a mini-epic. Recorded and mixed in Ohio at Sixtyten Studio by Steven Warstler, who also provides synth, sampler and percussion to the cut, and with Tartaglia and Klein providing guidance over the whole affair, this crew is developing a real grasp on how to handle all the disparate sonic elements and changes of direction that they like to weave into their songs. A little reading on their Bandcamp page reveals that “ripe•people” was recorded this past May during some “downtime between tour dates”. Kinda makes you wonder what these guys do with their “up” time! Speaking of tour dates, if you live on the East coast you might just be lucky enough to catch up with the band, as they are heading out for a short tour in June. Check the dates after the video!
