It seems most of the album trailers that I watch are pretty forgettable, but Zomby‘s new offering for his With Love LP, due out June 17/18th via 4AD, really elevates the form. Using hyper-stylized tableaus, shot beautifully in black and white, director Ollie Evans hangs his surreal depictions in the suspended moments of a dream. The video features outtakes from the tracks “Ascension“, “Sunshine In November“, “Overdose“, and “Memories“, and sets them to vividly realized scenes that depict things like a quasi-religious moment with Mother and Child, strange marriage ritual, car jacking, burial, and other visual oddities. Zomby’s music, like the video, is styled to the nines, with every little detail on-point and hyper-realized, creating evocative sonics of menacing lucidity. Can’t wait to hear all 33-tracks of With Love in-full, and that’s just what an album trailer should do!
