Sebadoh releases their Defend Yourself LP today on Domino Records, as well as a new video for the current single “I Will“. Listening to the track, and I’m struck by how great Lou Barlow‘s voice sounds after all these years, Romantic and resonant with emotion! Still exploring the thornier side of things lyrically, he begins by singing, in that sweetly soothing, medicated drawl of his, “Can you tell/I’m about to loose control”, while his chiming guitar spins a circular line, before cranking up the dynamics and rocking out with bite and growl! The video for the cut is directed by the Australian filmmaker and musician Adam Harding, and it features a hirsute Barlow strumming guitar at the breakfast table and guzzling coffee straight out the pot, his hand-scrawled lyrics and drawn guitar “tabs”, as well as a couple of seriously fat cats (I’m not judgin’, I’m just say’n). Sebadoh kicks off their European and US tour in October, so don’t miss the dates below.
