New Music: Sacred Bones Issues ‘Killed by Death Rock’ Comp.

708

Giving a nod to the well known punk compilation series Killed By Death, Sacred Bones has released a global smattering of obscure post-punk offerings titled, Killed by Death Rock Vol 1. After years of searching out the rare, beyond “hard to find” punk, Sacred Bones founder Caleb Braaten has amassed an eleven track tome of weird, dark punk in the vein of the classic Nuggets series.

On the opening cut “I Wanna Be You” by the Denver-based band Your Funeral there is a gloomy but bouncy poppiness that might bring to mind a band like The Cure. Mix in moody tribal backbeat and snotty sounding female vocals, and you have a decent picture of this comp’s explored landscape. Labels like Sacred Bones, with their archival bent, are doing a lot of worthwhile work for collectors and lover’s of underground rock! So, show your appreciation by supporting them on cool offerings such as Killed By Death Rock Vol. 1.
