Watch: Black Bananas “Physical Emotions”

Whoa, who turned my Black Bananas into a funked-up electro-boogie band while I wasn’t listening?! Jennifer Herrema and her burned-out crew of Cali rowdies will drop their Electric Brick Wall LP on June 24th via Drag City, and this week they have a new video for the album’s first single, “Physical Emotions“. Directed by the Brooklyn-based cartoonist and animator M. Wartella (Ackxhpæz), and featuring the OG street dancer Flat Top, the video finds Ms. Herrema cuddled up with her favorite Lasonic boombox, and when she drops her iPhone into the “cassette” slot, Flat Top magically appears on the box’s small screen, before being projected outward to bust his impeccably stylish, retro dance moves! Plenty of green screen and animated shenanigans follow, and while Herrema won’t be dancing with the stars anytime soon, as always she’s dressed to the nines, even sporting a swanky pelt of fur tails.
