Today we check out the new video from Xiu Xiu for the track “The Silver Platter“, off his amazing 2014 LP release Angel Guts: Red Classroom, out now on Polyvinyl. Directed by Michael Carter, the video composes rapidly changing still shots of hands in various mysterious mudras, composited over by alternating occult and religious symbols, creating a mesmerizing flow of images that, paced with the track’s hectic rhythm, eventually require the viewer to relinquish their acquisition filter, due to the speed and complexity of the imaging. The result is something that gets under your skin, and sinks deep into the sub-conscious! Xiu Xiu will embark on a short West coast US tour later this month, with the band’s website reporting, “Shayna and Jamie will be playing Xiu Xiu songs from 2014 and Xiu Xiu songs from 2002-2004”.
