South London electro-pop duo FUNKTIONSLUST returned with their amazing new single “Dots“, to close last week. Stellar production distinguishes this track immediately, as deep bass tones drop their rich throb into the cut’s minimal arrangement. Sparse beats and hushed, icy strings are accompanied by echoing machine bleeps, suggestive of some cosmic clock running amuck. The ambiance of this track follows a cinematic logic, providing the perfect atmosphere for it’s male/female vocal exchange, which is the real center piece of “Dots”. FUNKTIONLUST’s stunning vocal talents are on full display here, as the pair interweaves a dramatic monologue about a character whose mind seems on the verge of madness…or some sort of profound insight!
