Watch: Obits “Machines”

Obits have a new video for their track “Machines“, off last year’s LP release Bed & Bugs, out now on Sub Pop. This track was originally recorded as a demo by the band’s guitarist Sohrab Habibion, and after some deliberation and attempts to flesh it out, Obits opted for the original’s “murky drone”. Transferred to eight track, with additional parts added by the band’s bassist Greg Simpson and drummer Alexis Fleisig, “Machines” circles around an acoustic guitar line, and similarly inflected vocal stanza, before adding layers of contrasting sonic textures to psychedelic effect. The video was shot at Habibion’s apartment by Fleisig, and then sent on to Nick Sewell, of the Toronto band Biblical, and he added stop motion animation sourced from The Prelinger Archives, compositing this whimsical public domain footage with sun-flooded images of Habibion on acoustic guitar.
