YlangYlang is the Montreal musician Catherine Debard, and on her Am I being overdramatic? LP, out now on Ailanthus Recordings, she creates head friendly bedroom pop full of candy colored ambiance and smoked-out drift. This lunar lullaby, “Oh Moon“, slithers and slurs thru looped metallic drones and pulsing bells, as subtle rhythmic elements exert their shadowy forces. Held together by Debard’s dream walking vocal incantation, as she delivers her hazy, introspective stanzas, this track casts a spell of dreamy supplication. The video follows “Oh Moons” layered sonic qualities, compositing images of the musician as she recites the track’s lyrics, with an instructional video for making some elaborate looking sushi, and an image of a giant tree!
