Watch: Viet Cong “Continental Shelf”

The Canadian four piece Viet Cong is getting set to release their self-titled debut LP on January 20th via Jagjaguwar, and today the band posted this new video for their track “Continental Shelf“. Directed by the ever prolific indie video auteur David Yoonha Park, the visuals cast an experimental film vibe with a real surrealist bent. Park explains:

“I wanted the video to feel like a reel of film that was purchased accidentally at a garage sale or found buried under someone’s front porch. It’s meant to be an incomplete picture – like screen tests from a lost movie.”

All kinds of strange images ensue like creepy hands emerging from the mist, a red altar with knife, skulls, and goblet, as well as chilly, distant female protagonists in silk gowns and various masks; and the video completes it’s filmic feel using some grainy, black and white, and a 4×3 format. Viet Cong is currently on tour in Europe, and they have an extensive live schedule planned for next year. Here are those dates…
