Francis Harris and Anthony Collins are masters at distilling house down to its most evocative essentials, and this B-side lead track is no exception.
Long chiming pads resonate into the ether, while a smooth and stylish kick pattern provides this track’s late-night heartbeat. The pair adds understated strings for some wistful melancholy before skittering rhythmic elements provide some sharp-edged counter-point. “Difficult Loves” eventually falls into a humid swoon, dropping the kick and drum elements for the cut’s emotive pads and strings, but following this languorously slow build, Frank & Tony go back to work dropping intricate drum interplay while maintaining this track’s perfect after-hours vibe.
