Not ready to loose your comfy illusions? Then, Exploded View is not for you. The band’s self-titled, debut LP comes out on August 19th via Sacred Bones, and on the upcoming album’s third single, singer Annika Henderson seems to relish disabusing us of our most cherished misconceptions!
She asks, “Must everything be bought/ From sex, to joy, to experiment,” before lamenting, “we no longer enjoy the real.” Meanwhile, her bandmates melt a feral form of the blues down into a morass of slow sinking sand that promises to swallow us whole–lost illusions and all! Don’t bother looking for a raft though, instead, Henderson recommends, “Sell your clothes/And sell your soul.”
