The Bay-area post-rock project Covet is readying their debut EP Effloresce for release on July 13th via Triple Crown Records. The band features guitarist Yvette Young, bassist David Adamiak, and drummer Forrest Rice. Last month the band premiered their track “glimmer” via Brooklyn Vegan. The musical equivalent of a blissed-out perma-smile, the track began as an acoustic piece written by Young. She explains that the original incarnation of the song started out as “gentle,” but goes on to explain:

“We added a bunch of delay and modulation to it, as well as some grit, and all of a sudden it transformed into the ‘Glimmer’ we have on the album!”

Beginning next week Covet will launch a brief West Coast tour, and you can check out all their upcoming dates after the YouTube embed below. In addition, the band will host an Effloresce listening party with Q&A tomorrow afternoon at 4pm PST via their Facebook and Instagram pages. Pre-orders of the album put you in the running for a signed test press of the record as well as a chance to win a sparkle red Talman guitar from Ibanez. While you’re at it, don’t miss Yvette Young’s Spring feature and interview with Vans’ Girls where she discusses Covet’s upcoming EP, her solo musical efforts, as well as her work as a painter/illustrator.
