Ethers "Ethers" album cover

Today we meet the Chicago-based band Ethers. Featuring veterans of the cities’ underground scene, the group formed after the dissolution of the band Heavy Times when guitarist/songwriter Bo Hansen joined forces with the husband and wife team of Russell Calderwood and Mary McKane, as well as drummer Matt Rolin. Describing themselves as a “bad time band,” Ethers’ self-titled debut is due out August 24th on Trouble In Mind Records.

Something” is our newest listen in on what the band has cooking up, and it follows up on the release of their ultra-catchy track “Rip Off” from earlier this summer. Ethers’ knack for making desperation and melancholy sound so damn catchy is on full display here. With a chest-pounding heartbeat of drums to drive the track and a luminously downcast guitar hook to guide the way, “Something” celebrates that unnameable feeling that sometimes just has a way of taking you over.
