Label News: Burger Records to Release Pink Mexico’s Dump LP

Pink Mexico is readying the release of it’s Dump LP via Burger/Little Dickman Records on March 1st. Burger will handle the cassette/digital release while Little Dickman is putting out the vinyl. The 13-track longplayer will be Pink Mexico’s third and it was recorded with Jeremy Scott (Vivian Girls, These Are Powers) at Civil Defense in Brooklyn, NY.

Pink Mexico began several years back as a solo project for Robert Preston Collum, who’d played drums in bands like Shilpa Ray, WALTZ and Lola Pistola. Moving from Brooklyn to Los Angeles, the musician released his pnik mxeico LP in June of 2013 and it would go on to garner a huge amount of buzz and attention that year. The Austin-based label Fleeting Youth Records rereleased the album the following December, while France’s Big Tomato Records put it out on 12″ vinyl in 2015.

Collum would end up joining Burger Records and releasing his Fool LP in 2016. In the intervening years, Pink Mexico also added bassist Ian Everall and drummer Grady Walker to the fold and both musicians play on the band’s upcoming record. Below, you can check out the raucous track “High Dive.” Blaring production has this ear-warper burning out of the gate on the leftover fumes of coffee and beer. While the band might be hitting new nutritional lows, they’re definitely flying high on this fried-out slice of scuzz pop.
