Watch: Foodman “Moyashi Kids”

Foodman is readying a new seven track EP entitled “ODOODO” due out March 29th via Mad Decent. The album title translates from Japanese as “unconfident,” and as onomatopoeia it describes someone in a nervous state. Struck by the graphic quality of the word when translated into English–with its interplay of circles and semi-circles– it almost appears as some hybrid form of binary code in the Joe Bastardo designed cover for the digital/limited-edition cassette release.

Seeking creative spaces outside of the studio, Foodman brought his laptop along on everyday excursions to work and home in crafting his newest release. Continuing his rhythmic experiments with Chicago Footwork, the producer’s playful approach to the form is definitely apparent on the single “Moyashi Kids.” Day-Glo colored and suffused in childlike nostalgia, the track’s whimsical sonic elements are set in motion by kinetic percussion that seems light as air.
