Here comes another Tropical Fuck Storm. The Aussie four-piece has announced the upcoming limited edition 7″ “The Planet Of Straw Men” due out May 3rd via Joyful Noise Recordings. In addition, TFS has a new full-length planned for later in 2019, as well as a European tour kicking off on May 8th.
Tropical Fuck Storm features ex-The Drones’ members Gareth Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin, and the pair is joined by Lauren Hammel (High Tension) and Erica Dunn (Harmony/Mod Con). “The Planet Of The Straw Men” is a preview of the band’s upcoming LP, and talking about the track they explain: “In a world where dissident writers are drawn and quartered, communists wear Rolexes, and Trump drives around with a fridge-full of blood; our new single is testament to the jester’s duty.”
TFS definitely relishes the role as evidenced in this new video for the track directed by Chris Matthews of Defero Productions. The band’s bonkers approach to post-punk is funky and angular with a playful edge and that aesthetic is echoed in the video. Donning flight suits in their neon-lit studio, and with Gareth Liddiard singing into a dildo for a microphone, the group’s lo-fi fun is infectious.
