Boy Harsher returns this month with a new video for the track “Come Closer,” off the band’s excellent 2019 LP Careful (Nude Club Records). So far the duo has released an intriguing collection of videos from the record including “LA,” “Fate” (which appeared on our Favorite Videos of 2018 list), as well the pair’s self-directed effort “Face the Fire.” This newest offering is directed by Muted Widows, a collaboration between Nedda Afsari (Muted Fawn) and The Widow Brothers (Michael R. Zumaya and Michael E Linn).
“Come Closer” seems to delve into the mysterious, inner realms of the Psyche. Featuring three female characters: The Original, The Jester, and The Dual, we are initiated into a dream realm where these Personae enact a mysterious drama. Muted Widows treat the material with mythic significance, creating complex and charged imagery that is both cutting edge and timeless.
