Steven King has a new stripped down acoustic album entitled Earth Hurts. The singer/songwriter wrote the majority of the five-song EP after returning from a solo tour of the West last July. Demoing the tracks onto his iPhone, King would go on to record them live in his living room. He explains: “Some of the songs allow me to play a new character and create stories while others are some of my most personal work yet.”

With the idea of showcasing his lyrics, a track like “It’s Over Now” needs little more than voice and guitar to deliver its’ warning. Sure, Dylan’s “…Baby Blue” shines through like a primo find from down at the vintage shop, but he wears it well. Making it his own in the process, King’s ability to turn a phrase is on display throughout with increasingly devastating results as he delivers lines like: “When you offer a hand my friend/I offer a frown/You made your best attempt/It’s over now.”

The visuals for the track were shot and edited by Mitch Rossiter. Combining footage of the band traveling and performing, the video’s diaristic feel echoes this song’s well-traveled stanzas.
